Following on fom the Cross Border TWIG on Friday, April 11, we are offering this one off workshop with renowned dancer, Peter Fraser who works in site-specific dance, improvisation and installations.
Our bodies aren’t at all like trees or plants. So can we find ways of getting closer to nature – even having a dance with it?
This workshop offers ways to intensify your awareness of, and empathy with, nature.
We will work together to feel physically connected with the immediate natural environment and to release our body’s capacity to respond to it.
The workshop uses strategies drawn from ‘body weather’ a process of sensory enquiry originally developed by Japanese dancer Min Tanaka. Bodyweather understands our bodies as continually interacting and interdependent with our environment. We will work individually and in partnered work and with some direct body contact with nature. The workshop does not require any dance experience or physical training. It will suit anyone who is curious to investigate our relationship with nature.
By the end of the workshop you will have found ways of making your own short dance with a tree (or some other aspect of nature that you choose)
